Selections from the most influential writings in the history of political philosophy (Plato, Aristotle, Augustine, Hobbes, Locke, Rousseau, Kant, Hegel, Foucault, among them) read alongside Shakespeare’s Coriolanus, Suzanne Collins’ best selling novel and film The Hunger Games, T. S. Eliot’s The Four Quartets, and Jonathan Haidt’s The Righteous Mind: Why Good People are Divided by Politics and Religion, the latter a useful compilation of the latest neuroscientific research about the character of our political and religious sensibilities. Contemplative practices introduced as guides to critical thinking, political culture and self-awareness.  Spin is often confused with philosophy.  For the sake of clarity, the spin referred to here is on a stationary bike.
